July 8: 1918. The State Senate of the Ukrainian State was founded as a supreme court for the regime of Hetman Pavlo Skoropadsky.

1997. A Charter on Special Partnership was signed between NATO and Ukraine in Madrid.

July 9: 1917. The Presidium of the Central Rada was created, headed by Mykhailo Hrushevsky.

1961. A monument to Taras Shevchenko was unveiled in Winnipeg.

July 10: 1968. The Maksym Rylsky Literary and Memorial Museum was opened in Kyiv.

1994. In a runoff with incumbent President Leonid Kravchuk, Leonid Kuchma was elected president of Ukraine.

July 11: 1925. The Ukrainian National Democratic Union (UNDO) was founded in Lviv.

1996. Mass protest actions and strikes took place at Ukrainian mines demanding the payment of wage arrears.

July 12: 1581. The Ostroh Bible was published by printing pioneer Ivan Fedorov.

1996. People’s deputies of Ukraine swore allegiance to the people of Ukraine according to the Constitution.

July 13: 1920. The Council of People’s Commissars of the Ukrainian SSR approved a decision On Creating the Ukrainian Red Cross.

1935. Under a decision of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (bolshevik) of Ukraine the Ukrainian section of the Society of Old Bolsheviks was liquidated.

July 14: 1927. The Council of People’s Commissars of Ukrainian SSR approved a decision On Creating Coastal Preserves on the Black and Azov Seas.

1948. The Kyiv Publishing House for Political Literature issued the first volume of the fourth edition of Lenin’s collected works in Ukrainian.
