June 4: 1916. After an offensive, Russian troops occupied a large part of Halychyna and Bukovyna.

1946. The Council of Ministers of Ukrainian SSR passed a decision On Renewing the Volodymyr Korolenko Museum in Poltava.

June 5: 1771. By a government ukase 1,000 Ukrainian Cossacks were allowed to settle near Azov.

1990. The First Council of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church began in Kyiv.

June 6: 1708. Ukrainian Hetman Ivan Mazepa and Swedish King Charles XII signed a treaty on joint actions against Muscovite Tsar Peter I.

1992. The First All-Ukrainian Congress of Lemkos took place in Ternopil.

June 7: 1899. A monument to Aleksandr Pushkin was unveiled in Kyiv, erected at the expense of teachers and pupils of the Kyiv-Pechersk Gymnasium.

1993. The International Committee for Economic Reforms and Cooperation was created in Kyiv, a non-governmental organization aimed at furthering invited private foreign capital.

June 8: 1937. The First Congress of Architects took place in Kyiv.

1995. The president of Ukraine signed a decree On Appointing Yevhen Marchuk prime minister of Ukraine.

June 9: 1847. Tsar Nicholas I approved the sentence sending Taras Shevchenko to the army and banning him from writing and painting.

1995. The Presidents of Ukraine and Russia signed an agreement On Separate Basing of the Black Sea Navy and Naval Forces of Ukraine, and Dividing the Property of the Black Sea Navy.

June 10: 1964. A monument to Taras Shevchenko was unveiled in Moscow.

1994. The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine registered the Ukrainian Student League.
