April 2: 1596. A battle took place in Hostry Kamin ravine between Severyn Nalyvaiko’s insurgents and Polish Hetman Stefan Ziolkiewski’s army.

1946. The Council of Ministers of Ukrainian SSR passed a decision On Renewing of the State Bandura Players Choir of Ukrainian SSR.

April 3: 1995. A protocol was signed in Kyiv by the Israeli and Ukrainian governments On the Mutual Founding and Activities of Information and Culture Centers.

1995. The first official visit of a West European Union delegation to Ukraine began.

April 4: 1936. The Scientific Research Institute of Experimental Ophthalmology was founded in Odesa.

1996. Verkhovna Rada passed the law On the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea.

April 5: 1992. By decree of President Leonid Kravchuk the Black Sea Navy was proclaimed Ukrainian.

1995. The first voucher auction was held at Kyiv Ukrainian Center for Voucher Auctions.

April 6: 1654. A Ukrainian embassy received from Muscovite Tsar Aleksei Mikhailovich a confirmation of the conditions on which Zaporozhzhian Army agreed to a protectorate.

1950. By a secret decision of the Council of Ministers of the USSR it was established that those exiled in 1944-1949, irrespective of terms of their exile, should be considered exiled forever.

April 7: 1990. The founding meeting of the Union of the Political Independence of Ukraine began in Lviv.

1993. The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine registered the All-Ukrainian Union of Regional Studies.

April 8: 1944. The Crimean offensive operation of the Soviet troops began, resulting in taking the Crimean Peninsula from Nazis. 1990. The International Renaissance Foundation was founded.
