February 26: 1878. The trial of a group of renowned Halychyna public figures including Ivan Franko, Mykhailo Pavlyk, and Ostap Terletsky began in Lviv.

1993. The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine registered the All-Ukrainian People’s Movement (Rukh).

February 27: 1939. The First Congress of Ukrainian Composers began, creating the Composers’ Union of Ukraine.

1995. The Ukrainian Center for Post-Privatization Support for Enterprises was opened.

February 28: 1654. Polish King Jan II Kazimerz issued a universal to the Zaporozhzhian Army calling it to preserve its loyalty to the Rzeczpospolita.

1920. By an order from the Commander of the South Ukrainian Front a service of the head of the rear was established to fight the village insurgent movement in Ukraine.

March 1: 1944. Work on restoring Kyiv’s main street, Khreshchatyk, began.

1996. A regular bus route between Kyiv and London was opened.

March 2: 1993. By a presidential decree the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine was founded.

1994. The first framework agreement was signed between Ukraine and Japan, On Cooperation in the Liquidation Nuclear Weapons in Ukraine and Creating a Committee on Cooperation.

March 3: 1945. An Oblast State Picture Gallery was opened in Lviv.

1994. The US and Ukraine signed a common statement on developing friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

March 4: 1919. The Council of People’s Commissars of the Ukrainian SSR passed a decision on canceling payment for school education.

1944. The Proskuriv-Chernivtsi offensive operation of the troops of the First Ukrainian Front began.
