December 25: 1941 . The Kerch-Feodosiya landing operation began, resulting in taking the Kerch Peninsula from the Germans.

1992. Ukraine’s Ministry of Justice registered the Vasyl Stus Memorial Voluntary Cultural and Educational Charitable Community to Protect Human Rights.

December 26: 1947. A plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Ukraine dismissed Lazar Kaganovich and reinstated Nikita Khrushchev as first secretary.

1963. The first natural gas and gasoline plant began work in Ivano- Frankivsk oblast.

December 27: 1921. The All-Union Central Executive Committee approved a decree On Confiscating Church and Monastery Valuables.

1996. Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed a law On Privatizing the Property of State Enterprises.

December 28: 1920. The Ukrainian and Russian Soviet republics ratified a treaty on mutual recognition of their sovereignty and independence.

1938. A high-power blast furnace was put into action at the Zaporizhstal Plant.

December 29: 1964. The first turbine generator was put into action at the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Station.

1965. A monument to Mykola Lysenko, founder of Ukrainian classical music, was unveiled in Kyiv.

December 30: 1922. The First All-Union Congress of Soviets approved the Declaration and Treaty On Creating the USSR.

1960. The Crimean energy system was included in the United Energy System of the European USSR.

December 31: 1932. A decision on introducing a unified passport system and compulsory passport registration (propyska) in the Ukrainian SSR was made public.

1943. The troops of the First Ukrainian Front took Zhytomyr from the Nazis.
