June 26: 1996 . President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma issued a decree On a September 25 All-Ukrainian Referendum to Ratify the Ukrainian Constitution.

June 27: 1663. The Black Rada was held to elect a Hetman for the Left Bank Ukraine. Ivan Briukhovetsky was proclaimed hetman.

1964. A monument to Taras Shevchenko was unveiled in Washington.

June 28: 1651 . A battle at the village Berestechko began between the Ukrainian Cossack army and the Polish szlachta.

1996. Late at night Verkhovna Rada approved the Ukrainian Constitution.

June 29: 1945. A treaty was signed in Moscow according to which Czechoslovakia transferred Transcarpathia to the Ukrainian SSR.

1995. President Leonid Kuchma issued a decree On Founding an Annual All-Ukrainian Teacher of the Year Contest.

June 30: 1956. The CPSU Central Committee passed a resolution to overcome the cult of personality and its consequences.

July 1: 1910 . A student demonstration was held in Lviv demanding a Ukrainian university be opened.

1989 . The founding conference of the Ukrainian People’s Movement for Perestroika (Rukh) was held.

July 2: 1976 . A monument to the Soviet citizens and war prisoners shot by the Nazis in 1941-1943 was unveiled in Babyn Yar in Kyiv.

1993 . The First All-Ukrainian Meeting of the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists was held in Kyiv.
