December 5: 1917. The Ukrainian Academy of Arts was created in Kyiv.
1994. Memorandum on presenting safety guarantees to Ukraine by the nuclear states of USA, Great Britain, and Russia, was signed in Budapest.
December 6: Day of the Military Forces of Ukraine.
1240. Mongol army led by Baty Khan captured and sacked Kyiv.
1919. UNR army started its first winter expedition into Denikin’s and Soviet armies’ rear.
December 7: 1934. USSR Council of Peoples’ Commissars approved a decision on canceling the ration card system for bread, flour, and meal.
1987. During Mikhail Gorbachev’s visit to the USA an agreement was made between USSR and the USA on liquidation of medium and short range ballistic missiles.
December 8: 1868. The Prosvita cultural-educational public organization was founded in Lviv.
1991. Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine signed an agreement in Brest on the Commonwealth of Independent States.
December 9: 1918. By the Dyrektoriya’s decision the law on the eight hour work day was renewed.
1992. The International Scientific Foundation to support scientist from the former USSR countries (Soros Fund) was presented in the USA.
December 10: 1918. The All-Ukrainian Central Executive Committee published its labor code.
1932. The VKP(b) Central Committee ratified a decision on holding a party purge during the year 1933 and cessation on admittance of new members.
December 11: 1917. The rump First All-Ukrainian Congress of Soviets met in Kharkiv proclaiming Ukraine a Soviet Republic.
1991. Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified a decision On Establishing Diplomatic Relations with States Subject to the Former USSR.
