Vaccines and Serums was founded. 1944. The State Defense Committee
resolved to restore the Dnipro's Lenin Hydroelectric Station. February
24 1574. Ukraine's first printed book, Ivan Fedorov's Apostle,
came out in Lviv. 1919. Ukraine and Poland signed an armistice.
February 25 1957. The Ukrainian SSR Council of Ministers resolved
to organize the State Publishing House for Children's Literature in Ukraine.
1992. The State Duma of Ukraine was set up by decree of the President
of Ukraine. February 26 1878. A trial began in
Lviv of a group of well-known Galician public figures, including Ivan Franko.
1921. The Kamianets-Podilsk Volodymyr Zatonsky State Pedagogical
Institute was founded. February 27 1939. The First Congress
of Ukrainian Composers was opened, which founded the Union of Composers.
1990. The USSR Supreme Soviet instituted the post of President of
the Soviet Union. February 28 1835. The Karelo-Finish
epic Kalevala, compiled from folk songs (runes) by the Finnish folklore
scholar Elias Lonnrot, was published. 1918. The Red Army fled Kyiv.
March 1 1918. The Little Rada of the Ukrainian People's Republic
adopted laws on the financial system, the state emblem, citizenship, and
administrative structure of Ukraine. 1918. Ukrainian-born Canadians
dedicated the Ukrainian Workers' Home as a cultural and educational society
in Winnipeg.
