December 15, 1917: Russia signs an armistice with the Central
Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and Turkey) at Brest-Litovsk
(now Brest, Belarus). December 15, 1961: IL-18 and AN-10 operated
by pilots A. Poliakov and B. Osipov start on a long-range mission to the
Soviet Antarctic station Mirny. December 16, 1919: Red Army troops
enter Kyiv. December 16, 1922: the All-Ukrainian Central Executive
Committee resolves to establish the Supreme Court of the Ukrainian SSR.
December 17, 1872: Mykola Lysenko's opera Chornomortsy (Black
Sea Cossacks) is staged in Kyiv for the first time. December 17, 1991:
the International Renaissance Foundation is registered with the Ministry
of Justice of Ukraine. December 18, 1957: the Central Committee
of the Communist Party of Ukraine and the Council of Ministers resolve
to establish a special scientific editorial office to prepare and publish
the Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia. December 18, 1942: Soviet troops
