The expert discussion about the future of Ukraine

Why are Ukrainian authorities literally and figuratively entrenching themselves? How can Ukraine pull through the trap Yanukovych is in because of the Tymoshenko case and save face and the course for the European integration? The five experts for the domestic and foreign policy tried to answer these and other questions during the roundtable called “What’s next?” Den held on December 7. In particular, the participants shared their ideas and advice in this concern. For example, Doctor of Political Science, Professor at the Shevchenko Kyiv National University Hryhorii PEREPELYTSIA thinks that the non-aligned status of Ukraine is “the fixation of the Ukrainian authorities’ helplessness and uncertainty.” The former deputy foreign minister of Ukraine and former deputy head of the President’s Secretariat Oleksandr CHALY opines that even in the situation Ukraine is in now the number of people who would like to continue the European integration is growing. The economic and energetic situation in Ukraine was discussed during the roundtable, too.
