Where there is no law, but every man does what is right in his own eyes, there is the least of real liberty

WHY DO I READ THE DAY?

22 December, 1998 - 00:00

   Dmytro Tabachnyk,
People's Deputy of Ukraine:

I have read The Day regularly, for the past year and a half.
I read it because I find attractive the objectivity and timeliness of its
information and its high intellectual level of discussion, something I
consider a feature inherent in The Day's material class. Moreover,
the fact remains that I have spent quite some time working in professional
journalism. For this reason I am very interested in studying features contributed
by professional analysts. I may not agree with what they say, but I am
always eager to share their knowledge and opinion. Here I would like single
out authors such as Volodymyr Zolotariov, Tetiana Korobova, and many others,
the more so that I have been fortunate enough to rub shoulders with them,
working for different periodicals.

I think that The Day provides adequate and timely coverage of
Ukraine's political life. I can only wish for more room dedicated to events
in the regions; more room for deep analyses, articles reflecting current
trends and problems in various creative domains like the theater and cinematography.
