Inhabitants of eight Ukrainian oblasts have finally received a long waited gift — surgical equipment, instruments, and medicines worth a total of about Hr 600,000. The recently supplied goods come from a mobilization center, formed 40 years ago in case of nuclear war. From now on this center will be used to help those suffering from natural disasters, ecological and industrial accidents. Director of the Health Ministry’s Special Department No. 2 Valentyn Brovchenko told The Day correspondent Larysa Nykonova, that excess reserves will be sent to rural hospitals, which are presently in a state of emergency. Mortality has increased 25.5% during six last years, while the birthrate fell over 30%.
