Will Shadow Cabinet be Eclipsed?

The conference of the Dnipropetrovsk oblast organization of the Hromada
Party has voted to nominate Pavlo Lazarenko as its candidate for President
in the next election.

This decision was made on the eve of Hromada's sixth congress slated
for January 22 in Kyiv. Addressing the conference, Mr. Lazarenko appealed
to the delegates to give the party leadership a mandate to negotiate with
other opposition parties in order to identify a single presidential candidate.
Now, according to Hromada's leader, there are four probable candidacies,
but so far no concrete deal has been struck about supporting one of them.
To strengthen cooperation, Mr. Lazarenko is thought to be preparing to
file a proposal to disband the Hromada shadow cabinet, which has fulfilled
its task, and to form a new opposition cabinet with Left-wing parties represented.
