Will Ukrainian Peacekeepers Go to Kosovo in a Month?

06 July, 00:00
It is wholly possible that Ukrainian peacekeepers will arrive in Kosovo as soon as late July or early August, NATO Press Secretary Jamie Shea told a group of Ukrainian journalists in Brussels, Interfax-Ukraine reports. As earlier, the stumbling block is the issue of who will finance the peacekeeping activity of the Ukrainians under KFOR. Usually such costs are born by the countries that send their contingents. However, Shea hinted that a compromise is possible such that Ukraine will finance only the of its military and their pay, while NATO will provide logistic support. In addition, targeted financial aid to maintain the Ukrainian contingent in Kosovo may come from certain Western countries. The contingent is estimated to be 1,400 persons.
