Powered Paragliding Open Championship of Ukraine was successfully held at Chernihiv’s Kolychivka airport

The championship’s program included individual and team competitions for the title of Ukrainian champion, formation of the Ukrainian national team for 2012-13 period, promotion and further development of the sport in Ukraine. The competition was organized by the Federation of Paragliding of Ukraine and NearBirds paragliding club, with Volodymyr Zaitsev serving as the chief arbiter. The program included also training flights, airstrip exercises, and games. While flying, the athletes competed in the navigation skills, accuracy, fuel economy, and flight duration. Overall, 16 athletes from Ukraine and Lithuania participated in the event. Championship went to Volodymyr Yavorsky, No. 9372 from Kharkiv. The athletes had not only looked at the city from above, but visited its historical monuments, too.
