Wladimir Klitschko retains world’s top boxer title

23 March, 00:00

The world’s WBO, IBF, IBO champion Wladimir Klitschko beat the US Eddie Chambers with a left-hand knockout punch 12 seconds before the end of a 12-round bout. The American went down and remained unconscious for over a minute, reports UKRINFORM. The match took place at the 51,000-seat ESPRIT Arena Stadium in Dusseldorf. Champion quotes Wladimir as saying after the bout: “Chambers is pretty fast. I used one hundred percent of my resources in the last round and I’m glad I could end the fight before the end of the bout. Chambers psychologically surrendered after the sixth round. It was hard handling a passive adversary who only tried to keep on his feet until the end of the bout.”

Eddie Chambers said he knew the way Klitschko would act, but could do nothing about it, and that he didn’t remember when he was knocked out. And so the Ukrainian boxing star has for the eighth time defended his IBF and IBO belts, and that of the WBO for the fourth time. He is still the world’s heavyweight champion. And the man doesn’t intend to be content with what he has accomplished. After the bout with Chambers he identified his nest possible adversaries: Russia’s Aleksandr Povetkin and US David Haye.
