Italy’s IVECO, a well known European manufacturer of heavy trucks, intends to invest up to $280 million in the Ukrainian automobile industry to produce truck and tractor engines. Oleksiy Kosionok, director of the Ukrainian - Italian joint venture, Iveco-Motor-Sich, informed the Interfax-Ukraine news agency that the terms of the four year project provide for supplying equipment and processes to start up production of engines with power ratings of 100-400 hp at Ukrainian machine building enterprises. The project will be implemented by a holding company, whose main founders will be Iveco-Motor-Sich and Iveco-Avtokraz of Kremenchuk. Output will be at least 50,000 engines a year. The first Italian engines are slated to be assembled in Zaporizhzhia already this month.
