The State Property Fund has invited bidders for the management of a 86.37% state-owned share in the Dniester Water Accumulation Station (DWAS) Open Joint Stock Company for a five year period. According to Interfax Ukraine, the term could be extended up to ten years.
Management is to complete the construction of the DWAS first stage, including three hydroelectric generators with a total capacity of 1,050 megawatts, investing a total of $480 million ($25 million in 2000, $93 million in 2001, $196 million in 2002, $114 million in 2003, and $52 million in 2004).
In addition, the manager is to take part in the second stage construction of four hydroelectric generators with a total capacity of 1,400 megawatts. Other bidding requirements include paying off DWAS's outstanding debt (as of July 1999, UAH 29,051,000) before the end of 2000 and use of hydroelectric generators produced by Turboatom of Kharkiv.
