Estonia Invests $10 Million in Ukraine

13 November, 2012 - 00:00

Construction of a dairy plant in Zaporizhzhia to the tune of $10 million has been announced as the largest Estonian investment in Ukraine. The first bottling line was recently started in Zaporizhzhia with the Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs on hand for the ceremony. However, the oblast state administration does not like what the city authorities claim to be one of their greatest achievements, according to The Day correspondent Viktor Puzhaichereda. Commenting on the oblast authorities’ attitude to the Estonian project, the Deputy Chairman of the oblast state administration Anatoly Kasachuk declared that the city already has two diary plants, one of which is completely idle and the other working at only 15% capacity, while the Zaporizhzhia market is flooded with milk products from Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Kherson. In other words, while regional manufacturers are silently dying, Zaporizhzhia authorities intend to support Estonian milk producers.
