Activists of Ukrainian branch of Greenpeace consider the European Bank's suspension of financing the construction of nuclear power units at the Rivne and Khmelnytsky stations their major achievement in 1997. In August Green Peace conducted an informational tour, explaining the negative consequences of new power units construction to the local population.
A research tour to Dnipro cities was another huge Greenpeace action. Water samples collected during the tour were tested in Great Britain showing, that the amount of chloride in drinking water considerably exceeds the norm. Only Kyiv water meets the international norms.
This year Greenpeace has scheduled actions against building new atomic power units and introduction of technologies which stipulate using chloride.
