New airport terminal in Lviv:

preparations underway, but no investor yet
22 September, 2009 - 00:00

The preparations for building the new passenger terminal on the territory of the Lviv International Airport started on September 15. Mykola Kmit, head of the Lviv Oblast State Administration, told journalists after a solemn ceremony that the Ministry of Economy issued an order to start these works, which will be fulfilled solely by the Altis Holding Corporation.

At the same time, Kmit reported that an international tender is being held to determine a company that will invest in the terminal construction. The Ministry of Transport and Connection has to choose from several participating companies and the decision will be known on October 9.

If no company is selected, the construction works will be financed using government-secured loans or state budget disbursements, Kmit said. The preparations will take nearly four months, and in late August the Cabinet of Ministers issued a decree to finance these works. The overall area of the new terminal will span nearly 39,000 square meters, and it will be able to handle 2,000 passengers per hour.
