Ukraine to Take Part in Moscow Grain Tender

Ukraine plans to participate in the tender to supply grain to Moscow, Russia. According to an unofficial report, the country plans to offer to supply 500,000 tons of grain, but the price and conditions of the proposal were not available. This year the Russian grain harvest has been much lower than expected, with only 60 million tons harvested thus far. Experts believe that Ukraine has a poor chance of winning the tender because it is not a member of the CIS Customs Union. Being a member of the union will give Kazakhstan an edge in terms of the price at which it can offer its grain.

Suslov: Changed Corridor Requires Changed Budget

The recent change in the currency corridor means that the government and Parliament need to make immediate adjustments in the national budget indicators, according to former Economy Minister Viktor Suslov, who is also a member of the Leftist Center faction in Parliament. Suslov said that the new corridor of Hr 2.50-3.50 per dollar has made the current budget unrealistic, because it was drawn up based on indicators that were established on expectations that the exchange rate would remain around Hr 1.90 to the dollar throughout the year. He added that the hryvnia’s slide will only to an increase in the cost of imports and general price increases throughout the country.
