Direct investments in the Ukrainian economy totaled $181.1 million during first three months of 1998, which is 15% more than the same period of the previous year. According to the State Statistics Committee, the CIS and Baltic states supplied $7.1 million or 3.9% of the total. Other countries invested $174 million. Investments were mainly attracted in monetary form — $114.8 million and in property — $57.9 million. As of April 1, the overall amount of investments into Ukrainian economy was $2.1781 billion. The biggest investments were made by non-residents from the USA ($426.9 million), Netherlands ($220.6 million), Germany ($184.2 million), Cyprus ($156.2 million), Russia ($154.9 million), and Great Britain ($151.4 million).
