Russian loan for Ukrainian nuclear plant

10 March, 1998 - 00:00

In the immediate future a Russian-Ukrainian intergovernmental group will sign an agreement, which envisions Russia's giving a commodity loan for completion of construction of the Khmelnytsky and Rivne nuclear power plants. The overall value of the equipment provided has been fixed at $100 million. The loan conditions have not been specified. It was earlier anticipated that construction of the Khmelnytsky and Rivne plants would be completed through an EBRD loan, but EBRD has so far failed to indicate whether it would support the project.
