SBU Lifts Blockade of Registry

12 October, 00:00

People's Deputy Inna Bohoslovska filed a petition to open a criminal case against Mykolayiv Alumina Plant General Director Mykola Naboka with law enforcement authorities. To her mind, the actions of the plant director, who has ordered the seizure of the independent registrar — Vash Reyestrator (Your Registrar) company, which had been keeping the shareholders register for the Mykolayiv Alumina Plant — shows signs of abuse of power and arbitrariness punishable under articles 166 and 198 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

After a four-day blockade of the register holder by plant guards, the SBU intervened. A group of investigators and operations staff entered the office where they made a search and seized certain documents pertaining to the SBU's criminal case. It was established that there had been no attempts of unauthorized entry to the registry or major transactions to alienate shares. Vash Reyestrator was expected to resume normal activity starting October 7.

In an interview with The Day Inna Bohoslovska said that she regards the blockade of Vash Reyestrator an attempt to seize the register of the Mykolayiv Alumina Plant. In confirmation, the Ukrainian Security Service was presented with Naboka's order to set up a commission to inventory the register and transfer it to the Slavutych-Kapital registry firm. Incidentally, since early last week Mykolayiv Alumina Plant's radio has been informing the public that the only company authorized to carry out transactions concerning its shares is Slavutych-Kapital, that only this firm was licensed, and transactions with other companies were declared invalid.
