A number of Russian companies that won the tender to import tax-free Ukrainian white sugar have not yet turned to the Ukrtsukor (Ukrainian Sugar) to sign contracts. According to the deputy head of the association Borys Melentiev, Ukraine has enough white sugar to secure the quota, 600,000 tons. He adds that supplying white sugar to Russia at the indicative price set by the Ministry of External Economic Relations and Trade at $390-410 per ton appears to be inexpedient, considering that domestic wholesale prices are $460-500 per ton.
