Will Ukrainian big shots change their foreign limousines for domestic cars? Journalists posed this interesting question to the organizers of the AvtoZAZ-Daewoo presentation at the Ukraina Palace.
Oleksandr Sotnykov, chairman of the joint venture’s board, stated that the participants of the future Crimean summit will use Leganzas as well as Tavriyas. Good news. At long last Ukraine will be able to demonstrate the accomplishments of its motor industry.
Volodymyr Kovaliov, President of the Ukrainian State Credit-Investment Company who was also on the Presidium, first noted that this question would be decided by the Cabinet’s General Management Office, but then specified that the government would buy Leganzas, adding that he knew nothing about discounts. Obviously, the ministers’ patriotism does not stretch as far as Tavriya. Not yet.
Mr. Sotnykov also said that making Tavriyas would bring the company Hr 32 million in losses. Probably because the needy Ukrainian government will buy these cars at a considerable discount. Ordinary citizens will be able to buy these cars on over one year and even five year loans. In other words, advance 40%, get behind the wheel and have fun. Great! For the company anyway. Not coincidentally, the press conference was held under the motto: “What’s Good for AvtoZAZ-Daewoo is Good for Ukraine!”
