Five days of jazz

Over 70 concerts are to be held during the festival. Musicians will perform at three venues!

“The Koktebel Jazz Festival free music event marks its 10th anniversary in 2012. Good jazz music, fresh sea breeze and, of course, natural brandies and wines make a recipe for a successful festival, the most important one in Eastern Europe,” press service of the Koktebel trademark reports. Organizers have prepared a few special projects. For example, Czech bands Muff, Points, Vojtech Prochazka Trio, and Kuzmich Orchestra will perform on the Open Stage on August 29, 2012. The event is called the Staropramen Czech Open Stage and is sponsored by the Czech Center.

The popular Belarusian band Lyapis Trubetskoy will present its new program based on Rabkor album. It will be a real performance and special production for the Jazz Koktebel. By the way, the Belarusians will perform at the Zakhid Festival in Lviv region on August 18, 2012, before going on the Koktebel tour, the band’s website lyapis.com reports.

Another special project that continues the Jazz Koktebel’s traditions will involve the creation of a new art space in Maximilian Voloshin Square; this is a joint project of Jazz Koktebel and painter Kostiantyn Skrytutsky.

According to the organizers of the festival, the main program on the Voloshin Stage in the garden of the Voloshin Museum will include among its participants Jim Ridl Trio (US), Arne Jansen Trio (Germany), Mike Del Ferro (the Netherlands), Pulcinella (France), Arman Jazz Trio (Russia), Odissey Bogusevich & Winter Sun (Russia), Veronika Kozhukharova (Russia), and Eduard Dilia Prystupa & Ye – BAND (Ukraine).

The Open Stage will be a free day stage of the new and young music, hosting daily presentations of new projects of famous musicians and performances of young artists, including Tinavie (Russia), Sophie Villy (Russia), Laura and Marti Kristi (Ukraine), Nina Karlson (Russia), Dennis Adu Quintet (Ukraine), Morfe (Belarus), and TreeOrange (Ukraine).

The audience of the festival’s central music venue Nu Jazz Stage will be able to learn about new trends of modern music, represented by such bands as The Cinematic Orchestra (UK), Goran Bregovic and Wedding & Funeral Band (International), Nino Katamadze & Insight (Georgia), The Tiger Lillies (UK), Serebryanaya svadba (Belarus), Mama’s Gun (UK), Magnus Lindgren & Batucada Jazz (Sweden), Bjorn Berge (Norway), and Zorge (Russia).
