Girls Can Show Good Carting, Too

03 July, 00:00

Another round of the Ukrainian carting championship took place at the Chaika sports complex the weekend before last. It was extremely hot and damp, so not all of the racers could show the best performance, with the teams from Mykolayiv and Poltava oblasts, as well as from Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia proving the most enduring. The contenders' ages ranged between 5 and 48 years, and the younger ones showed an enviable staunchness. The youngest contenders were aged 2-3 (in Europe, children are allowed to vie in the baby cart event starting at 3). Among the girls, Milena Skriabyna, age 9, did a fair job. Watching carting progress in Ukraine, it is safe to assume that about 10 years from now a Ukrainian driver will appear in Formula 1, quite possibly a girl. This time Dmytro Bortsov and Yevhen Borshchenko won in the most prestigious Intercontinental A and Formula C events.
