Last weekend was a successful one for Ukrainian boxers. In Germany, reports Valentyn Shcherbachev, heavyweight Olympic champion Volodymyr Klychko knocked out 25 year-old American Eddie Koch in the fourth round, winning the WBC intercontinental championship. Meanwhile at the European championship in Minsk, Volodymyr Sydorenko of Enerhodar, Zaporizhzhia oblast, took the gold in the under 51 kg. division, defeating Mekhmet Agassi of Turkey in the quarterfinals, Ramaz Gazashvili of Georgia in the semifinals, and Russian Ilfat Raziapov in the finals. Brovary native Serhiy Dzynzyruk took the silver in the under 67 kg. category, losing in the finals to Russian Olympic champion Oleg Saitov after having shown his stuff against Vitaly Hrushak of Moldova and Vadym Mezha of Belarus. Oleh Kyriukhyn of Mariupol also took a bronze medal in the under 48 kg. category.
