Kyiv Finds Karpaty Unyielding

13 November, 2012 - 00:00

The eighth soccer championship of Ukraine opened last Tuesday with Kyiv Dynamo vs Lviv Karpaty meet. Unfortunately only 5,000 soccer fans came to the small but comfortable stadium to support their beloved teams. Probably the semi-final game between Brazil and Holland prevented the rest from coming, for the live broadcast began at 10 p.m. Apparently we could wait a little with launching the Ukrainian Cup Tournament, but our leading clubs are in top shape and we should also remember that they will also appear in the Euro-2000 qualifiers.

Once again the Lviv club refused to surrender - last year they twice defeated Dynamo and this time they managed to tie the game zero to zero.

Well, the first games brought many surprises. Silver medalist Shakhtar of Donetsk lost to Tavriya of Simferopol in a road game 1:2. Dnipro of Dnipropetrovsk was defeated by Metallurg of Donetsk 0:2 in a road game. Such a beginning promises an interesting series.
