There are games which go far beyond a simple tennis match. You remember them for a long time, if not for life. The match between Andriy Medvediev and Horan Ivanishevic at the APT Super-9 Mercedes tournament in Monte-Carlo was that kind of game.
The game was tied after the twelfth set, 6:6.
The only one who was totally calm then was Serhiy Bubka, who was sitting in the VIP tribune. He waived his hand, as if he wanted to say that everything was going to be fine. And it was, Andriy won the game- 9:7. After the game was over he just sat on the bench not moving a finger. Then he smiled.
“The whole week before the tournament I was sick. I continued training but had to take pills. Horan and I both wanted to win the game, because this is the first tournament on the ground,” said Medvediev.
Such a victory cost him much, but there was no time for rest. Alex Korretja from Spain was next.
Unfortunately, in the next round, Medvediev lost, and Korretja’s compatriot Carlos Moya won the tournament, reports Petro Marusenko, The Day.
