The Ukrainian super heavyweight Volodymyr Klychko came to fight his Serb
counterpart Zoran Vujecic for the first time after his ignominious defeat
in the Kyiv ring by the American Ross Purity.
This bout, held in Stuttgart, Germany, finished in one minute and two
seconds with a technical knockout. Volodymyr left Vujecic no chances, and
the Serb was unable to land even one solid punch. The Ukrainian boxer,
instead, delivered several series of three-four powerful punches each.
Experts noted Volodymyr had managed to learn a lesson from his December
defeat (hopefully the last in his brilliant career) and reached optimum
physical condition.
The Ukrainian biathlete Olena Zubrylova from Ternopil, who won a gold medal
at the world championship in Finland, has been made team captain. Chairman
of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) Leonid Derkach, speaking February
16 at the SBU museum, solemnly congratulated the athlete and Security Service
officer on her victorious performance. Ms. Zubrylova assured those present
that she would also rise to the occasion at the forthcoming winter Olympic
Games. Ms.Zubrylova is a member of the Dynamo sports society and an SBU
officer, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
