Schultz is Scared and Dodging

13 November, 2012 - 00:00

After their victorious trip to the US where they knocked out famous American boxers Carlos Monroe and Tony Tubbs, the Klychko brothers turned out to be in the center of the newspaper imbroglio stirred up by current European champion Axel Schultz. The German refused to fight Vitaly Klychko some time ago and now continues to delay the fight Ukrainian athlete using press.

The newspaper Bild from Leipzig reports that Schultz gave a press conference before his fight with 220th world rated American Richard Mason. (Note that Schultz won the fight in the 10th round on points.) He and his promoter Sauerland announced they had not yet adopted the final decision on fighting Vitaly Klychko. Vitaly's promoter Klaus-Peter Kohl offered Schultz DM 3 million for the fight, but the German boxer argued he had an agreement to fight Mike Tyson in February 1999, which would bring him more money and respect than all his fights for continental titles.

The natural question arises, what kind of agreement is he talking about, if Tyson still does not have his boxing license back after his scandal with ear biting. Schultz is obviously scared and is resorting to dirty tricks in order to stay on top.
