Maria Muliarchuk, a high school student, designed and submitted a project of a shallow-depth micro powerhouse to the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (SASU), Interfax reported, referring to the SASU press service. “The designed micro powerhouse with its low-speed hydro-dynamic multi-section turbine is meant for operation on small rivers and streams,” the press service noted, while describing the projects of the young inventors. The micro powerhouse can be used to supply energy to individual and farm households, illuminating the streets, towns, and for emergency energy supplies. It can also be used to boost the efficiency of the current water power plants.

Another high school student from Mykolaiv, Denys Reppe, designed a specialized vehicle on the basis of the KAMAZ truck, which is meant for charging electric cars off-site. A further project consists of a device that blocks a car if a driver is drunk. The students also submitted security control technology, a digital thermometer and an electronic device for detecting carbon monoxide in a building. The authors came from Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Rivne and Ivano-Frankivsk.
