Broadening the horizon

Art club Culture+ presents a new art season in Kyiv
16 October, 17:10

From TV screens into a spacious building in the downtown. Art club Culture+, which is a joint project of Arka Gallery and Culture TV channel, presented the second art season. Now a purely television project was supplemented by an exhibition hall at the National Museum of Medicine of Ukraine. The first exhibition is dedicated to two art events: a display of the best works from Arka Gallery funds and a photo exhibition of the National Museum of Medicine, which is located in a 160-year-old building.

“Last season our project existed on television only. We acquainted the audience of the Culture Channel with the best artistic works and artists themselves. This program received positive reviews, so we decided to broaden the horizon, and now we are switching to a new way of bringing culture to people,” said curator of the art project Ruslan RUNO in his interview with The Day. “It is very pleasant that the Museum of Medicine supported this project, so now we have a permanent location. We are going to rotate exhibitions for two weeks after the first opening exhibition. We are going to present works by artists of various generations and genres within the framework of the Culture+ project. Besides, we are going to organize presentations, press conferences, and art meetings.

According to Runo, the gallery’s schedule is filled until March, 2014. After the opening exhibition, which will feature masterpieces by famous Ukrainian artists, a separate exhibit “Double Portrait” by Viktor and Valentyna Bystriakov will be displayed. Arka Gallery works Monday through Friday till 18:00 at the National Museum of Medicine of Ukraine, 37 Bohdan Khmelnytsky Street, Kyiv.
