The exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art is a part of the “Banks” project initiated by famous Turkish patron Sahin Alparslan. He invited representatives of Ukrainian art schools to participate in the project. Artists from the Crimea, Lviv, Odesa, Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Kherson worked in Istanbul for three weeks. At the end of the project all the paintings made by Ukrainian artists were put on display in one of the largest galleries of Istanbul. The exhibition titled “Nine Artists. Istanbul” was a great success and a decision was made to present it in another art gallery.

From May 15 paintings of Ukrainian artists – the total of 54 art works – are exhibited for the first time in Kyiv. “One of the first sites I visited in Ukraine was Andriivsky Uzviz. I was impressed with the atmosphere of this place and the number of paintings presented there. Then I thought to myself that Ukraine must have a lot of talented artists and today once again I got convinced I was right. I would like to express my gratitude to artists whose artworks convey the diversity of Istanbul,” said the project manager Berat Yildiz.

“All my paintings from Turkey show the bright, juicy, and intense image. Istanbul is a fair city, city of festivals, a large bright caramel lollipop. You can’t get bored of this city, it is simply incredible. It belongs to cities where you feel the entire the power of life,” said project participant Mykola Mohelat. Another participant Mykola Hrymaliuk told us that “these were the fabulous three weeks. Those who saw the beauty of Istanbul for the first time had particularly striking impressions. Bosphorus, Hagia Sophia – you can’t possibly forget these places. I highly recommend to everyone to visit this city. You’ll see it in your dreams many months after you come back.”

Exhibition “On the Other Bank” was organized by a Turkish company GLOBART and was supported by the Department of Culture and Information attached to the Turkish Embassy in Ukraine.

The exhibition will be open at the Museum of Modern Art (Hlybochytska Street 17) till June 7.
