Feline Fete

14 November, 00:00

The International Cat Show held by the Ukrainian Cat Fanciers’ Association gathered as usual feline representatives from Lutsk to Simferopol. In addition to such large cities as Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolayiv, excellent breeds were present from Slavutych, Bila Tserkva, Pryluky, Sudak, Obukhov, Komsomolsk, and also from Moscow and Taganrog (Russia) and Tiraspol (Moldova).

The 110 contestants weathered through four examinations. Dutch expert Jean Paul Maas, Russian experts Inna Shustrova, Yelena Shevchenko, and Ukrainian Andriy Ustynov presented the ten best adult cats and ten best kittens. A special feature of judgment at the Ukrainian Cat Fanciers’ Association shows is that several cats can win simultaneously (in each judging ring) unlike at the other Kyiv feline fetes where can be only one winner. This feature attracts cat owners as well as numerous spectators who can watch immediately the experts do their job and listen to their comments on the tabbies examined. The exhibition also attracted many children who were entertained by clowns.

Thus, of the over fifteen breeds represented at the show, the top ten includes: Avis Noele, cream-colored Exotic Shorthair junior, Shaparak George Michael, Persian white junior, Shaparak Anabell Lalla, blue&cream Persian female, and also Scottish Fold, Siamese, Danube Sphynx, and Burmese juniors. The best of the adult cats were Benois Roch Philadelphia, Himalayan tortoiseshell female, Lord Eden Dionysus Persian black male, and Harmony Kamada Origami, Siamese chocolate point female.
