Where there is no law, but every man does what is right in his own eyes, there is the least of real liberty

The Hat Fell on the Floor...

24 November, 1998 - 00:00

If you try wearing such a hat, it will immediately fall on the floor.
Yes, your head is not capable of bearing such weight. The reason is simple
- this hat is not for wearing on the head, but for hanging on the wall.

Let's try to recreate a still life from artificial fruit. With this
purpose we need to buy the straw hat and glue a small oasis of dried flowers
to it. The artificial branches of strawberry we steer with glue into the
oasis, drawing a moon-like line on the hat. Also, we use the wide leaves
of strawberry to cover a few dried ginger leaves, which we previously paint
gold. Then, we put all the elements on the wire and affix them with glue.
Bunches of grapes can be divided into a few parts. We can also use a glue
stick to fix the apples. The dried grass is wired from both sides. Then
we fill the center. That is quite right: yellow and orange apples compliment
the blue and green grape bunches (dark and bright). To increase volume
we use grass to make circles in various planes and in some places we also
can add colored acorns. The list of components is not limited to those
mentioned; everyone can create a composition according to his or her own
mood and taste.

Of course, this masterpiece should not be put on a hatrack. It should
be placed in a cozy corner of a verandah or kitchen with wicker armchairs
and baskets next to wheat stalks and decorative bast shoes. In other words
its setting should be in the style of folk art.
