On January 23 Internet was filled with bold headlines about an unusual legal collision involving Australian goat named Gary. In summer of 2012 the police issued a fine of 440 dollars to Gary’s owner – comedian James “Jimbo” Dezarnaulds for the fact that his pet ate the flowers from the city flower bed. Dezarnaulds, however, decided to defend his and his goat’s innocence in court.

Finally, the Sydney Court ruled that Gary is innocent and Jimbo did not encourage him to eat flowers in the flower bed next to the building of the Museum of Modern Art. “I admit that he ate plants. But perhaps, he would prefer ice cream. Besides, there is no evidence that Mr. Dezarnaulds incited him to the crime,” said the judge ruling the case. After the court announced its decision Dezarnaulds and his pet friend, who was wearing a hat and a tie, were greeted by journalists. Local media reported that after the court hearing Gary the goat did not comment on the decision of the court for the journalists.

The actor was happy about the fair ruling of the court, but complained about the fact that the legal costs and the costs of his defense lawyers will be not compensated. James and Gary have been traveling around Australia for eight years now. They perform on the streets doing different comedy shows. By the way, Gary has his own page on Facebook, where everyone can trace his life in details and can read rave reviews from fans of his talent. Some of them have already advised Gary to sue the police. “I travel around Australia with Jimbo having a different adventure every day,” reads his profile on Facebook. It looks like the goat and his owner will remember their latest adventure for a long time…
