Jazz territory

Koktebel hosts Live in Blue Bay-2009 International Festival
22 September, 00:00

The recreation and retreat center Blakytna Zatoka (Blue Bay) turned into a jazz territory for three days. The organizers of the festival Live in Blue Bay tried to analyze all the strong and weak points in the organization of other similar festivals that were held in the Crimea before in order to offer jazz fans a bill they would relish. That is why the festival program included not only day-long concerts but also master classes conducted by famous musicians, night jam sessions, and special programs about the history of jazz music. Admission to the main and additional grounds of Live in Blue Bay was free. There were some famous jazz people at the festival, including Enver Izmaylov (this one-man band together with the band Zaman and the singer Leniye Izmaylova closed the first day of the festival), Nino Katamadze (a marvellous Georgian singer who, together with musicians from the band Insight, stunned the audience on the second day of the event), and Alexey Kozlov (a legendary saxophonist who introduced to the audience the Novyi Arsenal (New Arsenal) band that closed the jazz forum). This time the visitors of the festival in Koktebel had a chance to meet with Sergey Manukyan, a vocalist and a master of improvisation, and Alexey Arkhipovsky, the best balalaika player. The guests of the jazz-fest were also impressed with the performances offered by CherkassyJazzQuintet, DixieBrothersBand (Russia), Gregory Nemirovsky (Germany), Volodymyr Solianyk and the Kyiv Art Ensemble, Marek Ba ata (Poland), bands BeStyleBand, Twin-Town (Latvia), and others.
