16 October, 17:04

Liutauras Balciunas, a prominent Swiss conductor of Lithuanian origin, will conduct the concert to be held at the National Philharmonic Society of Ukraine on October 30, sponsored by the embassies of Switzerland and Lithuania in Kyiv.

Let us recall that Balciunas served as chief conductor of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet from 2000-03 and founded the International Music Festival in Trakai, Mammern Classics forum in Switzerland, and Murten Classics Festival.

The master will conduct the concert to be performed in Kyiv by the Kyivska Kamerata ensemble including famous Ukrainian musicians Bohdana Pivnenko, Borys Hromov, and Yaroslav Venger. The program will include works by Beethoven, including his Concerto for Violin and Orchestra and Coriolan Overture, Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for Violin and Viola with Orchestra, Schubert’s Symphony No.5 and Mahler’s Adagietto.

The musical evening’s organizers emphasize that cooperative effort of the Swiss conductor and the Ukrainian ensemble will be a major event in the cultural life of our capital, a model of fruitful artistic exchanges, as well as a manifestation of public diplomacy strengthening international relations between European capitals by means of music.
