The Rivne oblast to host the Ukrainian Wheelchair Dance Sport Cup

It will be held in Ukraine for the first time. Most couples will represent the Rivne oblast.

At the same time the competition is quite ambitious since it is likely to become international next year.

“Almost 40 couples will participate in Ukraine’s Open Wheelchair Dance Sport Cup,” director of the regional center Invasport Viktor Kucher commented.

“Although this competition is all-Ukrainian, 16 couples from Russia and two couples from Israel will participate as well. World-class judges will define the best of the best.”

Wheelchair dance sport started as rehabilitation for people with limited abilities.

Later it was adapted to sport rules.

“Rivne oblast has been demonstrating high class for nearly six years. This is actually why we are hosting the Cup of Ukraine and will promote wheelchair dance sport,” coach of the regional center Invasport Vladyslava Kostak said.

Couples from Rivne have been preparing for the competition for months. The couple of Ivan and Nadia Sivak, two-times world champions and two-times World Cup winners are among them. Dancers are training and worrying.

They say that they will do their best to live up to their reputation and win the gold medals.
