Spring’s trail extending into summer

Den received a few hundred photographs of human happiness’s living recipes over the duration of the spring photo contest, while you, dear readers, were actively voting for them on the paper’s website and in social networks. Thus, it is time to sum up.

Visitors to the website liked Oleksandra Chernova’s work Even the Stones Gain Lungs during the Ukrainian Spring the most, it reminds us of the importance of memory renewal. The photo received 513 visitor votes. The second highest support, with 386 votes, went to Andrii Parakhin’s Spring Is Confidently Walking Down Artema Street which makes its audience to really want to take a walk and listen to one’s inner spring. Yulia Lysa took the third place with her photo captioned thus: “Sometimes, we need to stop worrying about our life troubles and recall the distant days of our childhood.” Her work got 308 votes from online readers.

For the first time Den conducted the poll not only on its website, but in social networks, too. Interestingly, there was no overlap of choices. Facebook users liked Underwater by Oleksii (going by the first name only in his submission) and Petro Kochubii’s Threads of Life, Red and Black, while our VKontakte audience voted for Nadin’s photo Miss May.

As usually, the editorial jury had a chance to make its own choices. We reckon Valerii Shaihorodsky’s Melody and Melody of Life-2 as well as Serhii Kotok’s Arteries of Kyiv to be the most interesting in terms of content and the most professional in their execution. Winners will receive motivation prizes, while all of us have received a good chunk of positive emotions and inspiration from looking at the photos.

With the summer lying ahead, everyone needs to channel one’s spring-increased life motivation and energies in the right direction. Do not forget, please, to capture the happiest moments of your summer on the camera and submit the photos for Den’s next photo season, to be announced by the editors on June 14.
