Ukraine to Children National Fund Is Five

On November 20 Ukraine to Children National Fund celebrated its fifth anniversary at the Kyiv Philharmonic. The fund, whose goal is to improve social protection of children, mothers, and families, was created by the initiative of state and public leaders. First Lady of Ukraine Liudmyla Kuchma (in the photo) was elected its honorary president.

During the five years of its existence, the Fund has raised money and material donations totaling 21.7 million hryvnias. Every twentieth hryvnia in the children’s healthcare system came from the Ukraine to Children Fund. At the celebration, according to tradition, the heroes of the occasion got presents. It was announced that ten computer classes, a beautiful LAZ bus, 100 vouchers to the Artek children camp, and other gifts were donated to the Fund. Another surprise present was the announcement of Kirovohrad State College for Gifted Youth that a public Ukraine to Children organization is created at this institution, aimed on working for the good of our country: self-perfection, developing self-government at children’s educational institutions, and aid to unprotected, orphaned, and handicapped children. The college’s pupils also presented the honorary president of the fund Liudmyla Kuchma a symbol of their gratitude they made by themselves: a big red heart filled with small ones with letters of thanks from the pupils. The whole ceremony was accompanied with the bewitching sounds of classical music reminding one of children’s dreams.
