Ukrainian Paralympians Win Big in Canada

The final round of the Paralympics Skiing World Cup ended recently in Orford, Canada. In the closing stage the Ukrainian winter Paralympics team was represented by team leaders Olena Yurkovska, Mykola Ovcharenko, and Iryna Kyrychenko, who competed in short, medium, and long distance race as well as in sprinting. Our Paralympians made a good start on the first day, with Ovcharenko winning the silver in the five kilometers race and Yurkovska bronze in the 2.5 kilometers race. The following day Ovcharenko placed third in the fifteen kilometers race, and Yurkovska repeated his achievement of February 13 in the 700 meter print. On Saturday that week she struck gold in the five kilometers race. Ukraine's third best winter Paralympian Iryna Kyrychenko won the bronze in the medium distance race on the last day of the competition. According to the results of the competition, Olena Yurkovska is yet again high on the fixture list. She placed second in her group after American Candice Cable. It will be recalled that last year Yurkovska also placed second to an American, who was later disqualified after additional drug tests, and the Ukrainian occupied her rightful first place. Iryna Kyrychenko and Mykola Ovcharenko each placed fourth in their respective groups.
