The bronze steamer dropped her anchor at the quay’s railing, next to Teatralna Square. The sculpture’s creator is Mykhailo Kolodko. Head of tourism subdepartment of the Uzhhorod National University’s geography department Fedir Shandor told The Day it was the seventh miniature sculpture to be installed in the city. It will be followed by another one soon, but its name has not been disclosed yet.

The original Carpathia was built in 1903. It was the first ship to come to the Titanic survivors’ rescue as they drifted in their lifeboats. The steamer was sunk on July 17, 1918, after being torpedoed by a German U-boat during World War I.
