After the Klitschko vs. Povetkin bout a great deal of attention has been attached to singer Jamala, who performed the National Anthem of Ukraine in Moscow. We met with Ukrainian “jazz princess,” to talk about her impressions from singing on a boxing ring, international aristocratic folk music, and about perceiving ourselves as non-declarative Europeans.

“We, young people, have become superficial and unthinking. It is better for us ‘to swallow up’ something very simple, which does not require much thought, rather than to go to a theater or to watch a good film,” Jamala noted. “It is easier for us to swallow up some ‘cud.’ And it saddens me a lot. People have stopped to educate themselves. They are living with awful likes and shares in social networks. Everyone is sharing, but nobody prompts people to elaborate their own opinion. This must be changed.”

At the end the singer performed impromptu a composition dedicated to free people within Den’s walls (in our new studio that creates a better quality of sound and light). Watch the exclusive video of Den-TV project with Jamala as soon as on Monday on our website www.day.kiev.ua
