“How they did not squabble in Kyiv”

The exhibition project “How they did not squabble in Kyiv” (open through September 4) is presented by the Center for Museum and Exhibit “The Museum of Kyiv’s History,” the Mykhailo Hrushevsky Historical Memorial Museum, the Mikhail Bulgakov Literary Memorial Museum, the Ukrainian Diaspora Museum, the Sholem Aleichem Museum, the Alexander Pushkin Museum, and the Sixtiers Museum.

Ukrainian historian Hrushevsky, the classic of Russian literature Pushkin, the ballet star of the Paris Opera Serge Lifar, mystic writer Bulgakov, the bard of the Jewish people Sholem Aleichem, and the dissident Sixtiers: what did all these celebrities have in common? They lived in different epochs, cherished different views, and were active in different spheres. According to the concept of the new exhibit project, they were all united by the majestic Kyiv. The city was their home, their workplace, their source of inspiration, their school, and their road to fame. And of course, what unites them all is their connection with a number of Kyiv’s history museums. Even when their earthly lives were over, it intertwined their fates and invited them to take a walk around their favorite city, the modern one, different from what they used to know. St. Sophia’s Cathedral, the Opera, the First Kyiv Gymnasium, the St. Volodymyr University, Trukhaniv Island, Andriivsky Descent, St. Volodymyr Hill: these are the favorite places of our heroes, and the exhibit is the creative result of their informative walk.
