Organizers of the vernissage told The Day that the museum staff decided to finish the year with an interesting and artistic event and, therefore, they invited artists to the “Slobozhansky Express,” which goes from Kharkiv to Kyiv. The exhibition features nearly 300 art works that were selected in the studios of artist from Sloboda region. By the way, now the museum’s collection includes many items from this region, and the fund is being constantly updated.

“‘Slobozhansky Espress’ was included to our project ‘Art Map of Ukraine,’” said Svitlana HAVRYLENKOVA, museum manager. “The exhibition turned out to be very diverse – it presents paintings, drawings, and sculpture. We want to track the formation of creative personality, watch how basic academic approaches are combined with global cultural trends and achievements, how the environment and informational progress enrich individual artistic code. Our museum look stopped at various spots so that later we would be able to present regional unique characteristics, the path of development and the impact of the regional traditions on the artistic spectrum. In 2008 we visited Lviv, in 2009 – Odesa. This year in spring we presented the Crimea and now we present the works of artists from Kharkiv.”

By the way, among the guests of honor of the vernissage there was a famous Ukrainian artist Ivan Marchuk. He looked with great interest at the canvases created by artists from Sloboda region. You can form your own impression about the exhibition (it will be open until February 25), if you come to the Museum of Modern Art of Ukraine (17, Hlybochytska Street).
